To be accepted as an accredited member of WOEAC a university must meet the following standards.

The university must be legally registered within the country it is situated. It must offer a full distance learning degree program without any resident requirement.

The university must have a non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status.

The university will have to provide a confidentiality policy about the security of the student's academic and personal record and not release any information without the prior approval of the student.
